Ja, warum eigentlich? Wir haben ja letzte Woche gesehen, wer Jesus war: Gottes Sohn und sein erwählter König. Warum aber würde Gottes Sohn die Erde betreten, wenn ihm das ganze Universum gehört, noch dazu zu einer eher gefährlichen, ungemütlichen Zeit?
Die überraschende Antwort gibt’s heute um 15.30 Uhr im GBC.
Sollte doch eigentlich heißen – wer ist er, oder?! Wie dem auch sei, unsere zweite Gesprächsrunde im Rahmen der Reihe „Christsein Entdecken“ findet morgen im German Bible Café statt. Wie immer um 15.30 im Barnabas Centre. Ich hoffe, Du bist dabei!
Wir haben letzten Sonntag unsere ersten – sehr guten – Erfahrungen mit Christsein Entdecken gemacht. Christsein Entdecken ist eine echt gute Gesprächsreihe mit vielen Denkanstößen, dank der wir ein sehr positives und offenes Gespräch führen konnten.
Wir dachten über solche Fragen nach wie zum Beispiel, „Wenn Du Gott eine Frage stellen könntest, was würdest Du ihn fragen?“
Mal sehen, wie es diesen Sonntag läuft!

Gemeinsam machen wir vom GBC-Leiterteam uns gerade Gedanken, wie wir unseren Spaß im GBC besser mit anderen teilen können. Wir sind mittlerweile auf eine Gruppe von 8 bis 12 angewachsen und stoßen immer wieder auf Interesse von Deutschen, die gerne mit beim GBC dabei wären. Für viele ist es aber dann einfach wegen der Entfernung nicht möglich, teilzunehmen.
Deshalb tragen wir uns mit der Idee, GBC zumindest teilweise auch online verfügbar zu machen. Sprachlich gesehen wären die Hauptbeiträge auf deutsch, englische Antworten sind aber willkommen. Gäbe es von Eurer Seite aus Interesse an einer Diskussion mit und um Gottes Wort herum?
Als Plattform sind verschiedene Varianten denkbar, von einem Forum über einen Chatroom hin zu Blogposts mit Kommentaren – technisch gäbe es da überhaupt keine Probleme. Vielleicht hast Du auch selbst Vorschläge, wie man so was durchziehen könnte – bitte sag bescheid!
Die wichtigste Frage ist aber: Besteht von Deiner Seite aus Interesse an einem Bibelkreis dieser Art?

Over the next few weeks, as we are nearing Easter, we are going to look at the very heart of being a Christian.

21st of March: Relationships in God’s Kingdom (Matthew 18)
28th of March: The Trial and Crucifixion of the King (Matthew 27).
4th of April: We will take a break (many of us are away visiting relatives).
11th of April: The Resurrection of the King.

Important news: from this week on, GBC is shifting its starting time. We are now meeting at the usual location from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. I think this is a great change which will give us more opportunity to chill out as well as help those of us heading off to other churches after GBC to get there on time.

Christian mission is perhaps one of the most contentious issues of today. Is there still a role for it? In Matthew 10, Jesus sends his followers on the first mission. Was this the start of some very bad habits for Christians?

Our walk from Spit to Manly exceeded all expectations. The views across the harbour are just wonderful. Here are a few shots from along the way.

We have a new date for our exciting Spit to Manly outing: We’d love to invite you to join us for this beautiful walk on Saturday, 27th February. We are meeting at 10am at the left side of the Spit Bridge and will casually stroll over to Manly.
The Spit to Manly is one of the most beautiful bushwalks along the Middle Harbour. The track is 9kms long and takes approximately 4 hours. Children are welcome – and we’ll be bringing our two – but be mindful of the length of the walk. I’ll bring a carry backpack to help our kids.
We are planning to have at least one small picnic break, followed by a late but nice lunch at the Manly Bavarian Beer Cafe. Return to Spit bridge is by bus.
